Smokey's Outdoor Adventure

On the weekends when I go to my parents' house, it is always my mother's request that I bring Smokey along. She refers to him as her "grand-kitty"... And she always insists on taking him outside in the yard for at least an hour. We put on his harness and leash and let him roam around the yard. Here are some pictures of Smokey's adventure today:

Okay, I have officially put you into the "weird pet owners" category.

Smokey looks like he was having a great time . . .

And I don't think Smokey is weird pet . . . :-)

okay plucky, stop kissing up to the cats... cats can see through your guilt.

I call it "Feline Restitution" . . .

Besides, Jeni can attest that Smokey liked me from the beginning . . . Primarily he liked to shed his hair all over my lap . . . So now that I think about it I don't know if he was serving me grace or paying me back . . . hmmmmm . . .

Plucky- Smokey likes everyone with a pulse-- It's not saying much that he liked you...

And Laura- Does that mean I get to call people weird parents when they post pictures detailing what their children do?

laura said...

jeni- no, I am sorry but that does not apply. Children are human, pets are not. I had to explain this to my husband when I moved in... this is why pets should not sleep in human beds- they are not humans. Sorry, you may have found my Scott Stapp equivalent so I will leave it at that.

Here we are, back to the discrimination against single people again. So just because I choose not to sleep around and have a child when I am not married, I have sacrificed my right to post pictures of what is important to me... Nice to know.

Jeni- I am so sorry if you took personal offense to this, it has nothing to do with being single, or not having kids, it has to do with treating animals as if they were humans... at least that is all I was getting at. Again, I didn't mean to offend you... just my opinion, I am not a huge animal lover.

Not offended. I was trying to be joking about it in a way, but apparently that didn't work out so well. I really don't treat my cat like a human-- I actually get mad at my mom for cooking him his own separate chicken when I bring him to visit. But still, he is the only other living being in my home and so he is the one I take pictures of. I'd love it if I had actual little people to take pictures of, but I don't, so I have to make the best of what I do have... :)

oh good... and I should have been more specific. I have no issues with the pictures. It is the fact that your mom asks you to bring over the cat for her to visit. Now that you have told me she likes to prepare him his own meal, I now see that SHE is the odd ball... not really you.

She is pretty odd, but again, I can kind of understand. She wants to love something small... She REALLY wants grandchildren. My dad's kids from his first marriage have given my parents 6 grandchildren, but my mom really wants grandchildren of her own-- but my brother who is married says he's not having children, and well you know my story. She wants grandchildren as much as I want children. So my cat is her grandchild for now. I know not an actual person, but he's filling a void. I don't expect people to understand, but it makes sense to me because I kind of feel the same...

oh, man. that was great. i'm glad i stopped by. thanks, ladies.

and, jeni, in your defense the only thing i can see wrong with these pictures is that they are of a cat, which i believe falls more under the category of "evil incarnate" than "pets". in principle, however, pictures of pets are cool.

Jeni, BB sent me an email and told me to tell you high . . . She said Smokey does look angry in those pictures . . . She also told me tell you to set your blog to open-source so she can comment. If you don't know how, I'm sure we can find a male to help you with complicated internet things . . . :-)

diga - you would be the expert on evil incarnate.

plucky - Bite me.

And Becky-- if you are reading this, I think I fixed it... And my e-mail address is still the same... :) And Smokey is NOT angry-- you're just biased.
